Bassenian/Lagoni Architects is pleased to announce that Senior Principal David Kosco, AIA has been named Director of Design for the 140-person firm based in Newport Beach, California. In this new role Dave will ensure that Bassenian/Lagoni Architects continues to set the design and service benchmark for its clients. Also taking on new responsibility is Principal Kevin Karami who will now serve as Director of International Design. “Consistently providing the highest standards of quality and client service is both a privilege and a deeply felt responsibility,” said president Carl Lagoni. “In leading our design effort, Dave will help our clients through a carefully structured review process to ensure that together we create the most innovative, marketable and cost effective design solutions.” During his 20-year career with Bassenian/Lagoni Architects, Dave has been responsible for residential design projects ranging from single-family detached homes to multi-family residences. He is instrumental in leading the firm’s new product development and has been the lead designer on numerous award-winning projects, including The Villas at the Bridges and The Cortile Collection by Lennar Homes, Sutter’s Mill at Ladera Ranch by Centex Homes and Heritage Walk by The Olson Company. A graduate of Kent State University School of Architecture and Environmental Design, Dave is a sought-after speaker at industry conferences. In this newly-created position, Kosco will seek ways to enhance the work processes and quality of a talented team of designers. Specific areas of focus include: • Nurturing designers in executing creative solutions on time and on budget; • Working with clients to foster an understanding of design solutions • Connecting the work of land planners and designers to deliver solutions that create the greatest value. “It is a privilege for me to have influence on an extremely talented design staff,” says Kosco. “To improve what we already do is a challenge not easily met; however, my commitment could not be greater.” A 14-year member of the Bassenian/Lagoni Architects’ staff, in his new role Karami will bring the same discipline to the firm’s work in the international arena. During his tenure at Bassenian/Lagoni, Kevin has been instrumental in the evolution of new design directions for the firm, most notably in the development of exterior elevation theme styles. His finely honed design sense, acquired during his more than 25 years in residential architecture, frequently contributes to solutions for the firm’s clients, as well as the mentoring of staff. Kevin’s leadership has contributed to award-winning projects, such as The Sycamores at Shady Canyon by Lennar Homes, The Tides by Standard Pacific Homes and Windward by Richmond American. Currently Kevin directs projects throughout China, Asia and the Middle East. -- 30 --
