A Day At The Races

BLA Bowlers
Thirty-six determined strikers gathered Tuesday nights from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. for 13 weeks for fun and a little competition. Three teams competed for top honors. The high point of the season was recorded by Brian Neves, who rolled six strikes in a row. Bowling resumes in mid-January, and all are welcome!

Creativity Shines for a Worthy Cause with Project Playhouse: BLA’s two contributions to the 2006 HomeAid Project Playhouse fundraiser are sure to generate high bids and raise lots of money for this worthy cause.
A DAY AT THE BIG ‘A’!
Take everyone out to the ballgame in the comfort of your own backyard with this delightful replica of “The Big A.” Designed by Craig Gambill and built by Lennar Homes, the exterior of the playhouse greets fans just like its big brother in Anaheim—a giant red cap looks great perched atop the whimsical baseball! Even better, the playhouse boasts a rooftop batter’s box so sluggers can work on their swinging and hitting techniques. Inside is the exclusive players’ lounge, complete with baseball memorabilia, and state-of-the-art items like a built-in plasma TV with X-Box, mini fridge, and over-sized baseball gloves that are the best seats in the house! |

CRYSTAL COVE COTTAGE
The coastal summer cottages that dotted Crystal Cove in the 1920s and 1930s inspired Dave Pockett to create this classic California beach cottage. Pardee Homes’ vintage replica cottage features a welcoming wraparound porch that makes this little house great for indoor/outdoor play. The porch is accessed by a wide stairway and protected by an overhead trellis. Shingle siding, fancy cut roof shingles and board and batten design elements maintain design authenticity. A big bay window with seven windows provides exceptional viewing from the back room to the outdoors. Inside features include a retro red kitchen with a surfboard table, retro radio, comfy chairs, sea themed playthings, beach memorabilia and kitschy shell-patterned curtains. The beach theme is enhanced with colorful accents in yellow and turquoise! |

Knowledge Sharing: A company luncheon on April 26th provided an opportunity for learning and for fun (below). BLA’s Own Hero: Lee Rogaliner (right) was presented with the prestigious Rainbow of Hope Volunteer Award by Home-Aid Orange County for his “inspirational leadership and exceptional devotion to building hope and homes for the homeless in Orange County.” Lee, you make the rest of us proud that we can call you a colleague and friend.
Celebrating the Green: The land planning department showed off its new digs with an open house (below left) that just so happened to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day – which meant guests munched on green potato chips and drank green punch while touring the newly-refurbished space (below right).

BLA Bowlers: The cheering section – Linda Velasquez, JoAnn O’Neill, Curtis Ong and Mary Ring (below left) – toasts to longed-for victory by BLA bowlers Chris Velasquez, Joel Jose, George Handy, Dee Drylie and Judy Forrester. While BLA’s team didn’t win, Judy received a trophy for the second highest women’s game with a score of 151 (below right). Way to go Judy!

Bowling, Billiards & Beer: Fun was had by all at the March 30th party at Lucky Strike in Orange. Pins were falling, balls were dropping, beer was flowing and camaraderie was shared.

January-March 2006
GETTING TO KNOW YOU: Aram and Carl kicked off the new “get to know you” lunches on March 7, 2006. Eight employees new to BLA in the last two years joined the founders in a discussion of the company’s philosophy, how projects come to fruition, BLA’s service promise to clients and our outreach efforts through our books, Pure California and Tuscan and Adalusian Reflections.

Participants in the inaugural lunch include (from left) Todd Evans, Will Francisco, Ryan Sullivan, Justin DiRico, Aram Bassenian, Carl Lagoni, Joseph Martinez, Jornell Franciliso, Selma Saxton and Edwin Balquiedra.
MID-SEASON STANDINGS: Competition heats up each Wednesday night as the BLA bowling league teams battle for position – and, oh yeah, have a whole lot of fun doing so.
|

At week seven, in first place is The Triads – James Kim, Joel Jose and Michel Wu. Joel Jose also holds the league record for the highest game score: 224 points.
|
In second place is Bowling with the Stars – Ryan White, Linda Velasquez and, missing in action on photo night, Curtis Ong.
|
|

Holding in third place is the Gutter Gals – Dee Drylie, JoAnn O’Neill and Judy Forrester.
|

In the individual honor category, Mike Beamholds the record for most strikes in a row. His lucky number so far this season – you guessed it – six strikes in a row.
